Photograph series, titled Ceremony (2016)
Ceremony takes place in an immersive installation constructed in the studio, made using materials: synthetic hair, black thread, rugs, hose, decorative tassels, sod, plants, flowers, clay, wire, fiberglass, plaster, acrylic paint.
In the series, I transformed my body into a reimagined queer gisaeng, a traditional female courtesan and artist whose role was to entertain men in high governmental positions, exploring ideas of gender, sexuality, power, and conformity.
